Project Overview
The Rotary Club of Placencia is leading a comprehensive upgrade and remodel of the computer lab at St. John’s Primary School to create a safe, modern, and future-ready learning environment. This project will directly serve 141 primary school students by replacing outdated technology, improving classroom safety, and enabling effective digital learning in a community where access to computers at home is limited.
The scope includes new laptops, ergonomic furniture, flooring replacement, interior repainting, and upgraded electrical and power distribution systems, ensuring the lab meets today’s educational, safety, and technology standards. This initiative aligns with Rotary’s Basic Education and Literacy area of focus and builds on the Club’s 20-year partnership with the school.

Why it Matters
For many students in Placencia, school is their only access to a computer. Outdated devices, unsafe electrical systems, and worn classroom environments limit learning outcomes and widen the digital divide. This project directly addresses those challenges by creating a reliable, safe, and engaging space where students can build essential digital literacy skills.
The impact extends beyond the classroom, supporting teachers, strengthening school performance, and contributing to long-term community and workforce development.
