Project Overview
The Rotary Club of Placencia, in partnership with the Seine Bight Village Council, is transforming the Seine Bight Public Library’s Computer Resource Room into a safe, functional, and technology-enabled community learning hub serving the entire Placencia Peninsula.
As the only public library on the Peninsula, the Seine Bight Library is a vital access point for students, job seekers, and families who lack computers, reliable internet, or suitable study space at home. This project will upgrade the Resource Room with furnishings, lighting, ventilation, security improvements, and donated computers, creating a welcoming environment that supports education, digital literacy, and lifelong learning for residents of Seine Bight, Placencia Village, Maya Beach, and surrounding communities.

Why it Matters
For many residents of the Placencia Peninsula, the Seine Bight Public Library is the only gateway to digital access. Limited technology and study space currently restrict students’ ability to complete homework, adults’ ability to search for jobs, and families’ access to essential online services. This project directly reduces educational and economic barriers by providing free, reliable access to computers and the internet in a safe, inclusive space. The upgraded will support students across multiple schools, enable job seekers and adult learners, strengthen community programs, and serve as a shared resource for education, skills development, and connection.
