Project Overview
The Rotary Club of Corozal has launched a national prosthetics program to bring life-changing mobility solutions to amputees across Belize - where previously, no accessible or affordable prosthetic services existed.
After years of recognizing the growing need, the club formally moved forward in early 2022 to establish a program designed to serve not only Corozal, but the entire country.
The need is both urgent and deeply personal. With no viable prosthetic options available locally - and costs in other countries far beyond reach - many amputees in Belize have been left without the ability to walk, work, or live independently.
Through this program, highly functional, low-cost prosthetic limbs are provided at no cost to patients. Each device is custom-fitted, with many components assembled locally. In addition to restoring mobility, the program is helping build local capacity by training Belizeans as prosthetic technicians - creating sustainable impact and new economic opportunities.

Why it Matters
For amputees in Belize, the loss of a limb often means the loss of independence, income, and dignity. Without access to prosthetic care, many are confined to their homes and reliant on family members for daily support.
This program changes that reality. By providing prosthetic limbs at no cost, individuals are given the opportunity to walk again - to return to work, care for their families, and fully participate in their communities. As of November 2023, 33 individuals have already received below-knee prosthetics, each representing a life transformed.
The impact extends even further. By training local technicians, the program is building a sustainable, in-country solution that will continue to serve Belizeans for years to come. This is more than a medical initiative - it is a pathway to restored dignity, strengthened families, and a more inclusive future for Belize.
