Project Overview
Heavenly Animal Rescue - Corozal Town, Corozal District , Belize, is dedicated to improving animal health, reducing suffering, and promoting responsible pet ownership in Corozal Town and surrounding villages, Belize. Launched in 2021, Heavenly Animal Rescue is addressing a critical gap in animal welfare services in Corozal - home to more than 10,000 residents. Many families lack access to affordable veterinary care, resulting in high rates of unspayed and unneutered animals, untreated illness, and growing populations of stray and abandoned pets. Our mission is three-fold: Sterilize to control overpopulation, Rescue the neglected, and Rehome into safe, loving environments.

What We’re Delivering:
- Population Control: Spay/neuter services for strays and local pets.
- Financial Aid: Free or subsidized care for low-income pet owners.
- Medical Intervention: Vaccinations and treatment for infections, parasites, and transmissible diseases.
- Rescue & Rehoming: Comprehensive care for abandoned and at-risk animals.
Program Impact:
Since our inception, Heavenly Animal Rescue has maintained an aggressive pace of intervention, significantly reducing the burden of stray populations in the district.

Program Cost:
- Approximately $16,000 USD to provide services to 250 animals a year (covering veterinary services, supplies, and logistics)
Why it Matters
In Corozal, many animals live without access to basic veterinary care, and communities face the consequences of overpopulation, disease, and abandonment. Unspayed pets often lead to unwanted litters, while free-roaming animals contribute to the spread of illness and suffering.
Heavenly Animal Rescue is transforming this landscape by:
- Breaking the Cycle: Every spay/neuter procedure prevents hundreds of future unwanted births and the subsequent cycle of abandonment.
- Improving Public Safety: By treating parasites and diseases in free-roaming populations, we create a cleaner, safer environment for families and children.
- Building a Compassionate Community: Through education and subsidized care, we empower local owners to provide for their pets, strengthening the bond between the community and their animals.
With continued support, Heavenly Animal Rescue will expand its reach and strengthen its long-term mission: Rescue neglected and stray animals, provide them with healing care and place them in safe and loving homes in Corozal.
