Corozal Educational Scholarships

Project Overview

For over 20 years, the Rotary Club of Corozal has led a transformative Educational Scholarship Program that enables students to continue their education beyond primary school - an opportunity that is often financially out of reach for many families.

In Belize, secondary education (high school) is not fully subsidized for many students, particularly those attending non-government institutions. This scholarship program provides critical financial support that allows students to enroll, remain in school, and pursue their long-term aspirations. For many recipients, this scholarship is the deciding factor between continuing their education or leaving school at age 12.

Why it Matters

In Corozal District, many students face a critical barrier at the end of primary school: the inability to afford secondary education. Without support, these students are far more likely to remain at home, miss opportunities, and face increased risk of negative life outcomes.

This scholarship program changes that trajectory. It keeps students in school, opens pathways to higher education, and empowers them to pursue careers in fields such as law, medicine, government, and the arts. Beyond individual impact, the program strengthens families, communities, and the future workforce of Belize.

For donors, this is one of the most direct and measurable ways to change a life - turning academic potential into real opportunity, year after year.
