For over 20 years the Rotary Club of Corozal has been awarding educational scholarships as part of its Signature Projects program. This $500 BZ ($250 US) scholarship is applied to recipients’ secondary schooling (high school in the US) as there is no government assistance for secondary schooling in Belize. These scholarships are often the difference between recipients continuing their education or staying home after completing their primary schooling at age 12. Without a scholarship, they are much more likely to be idle at home, hang out with friends in similar situations, and get into trouble. Many of our Scholarship Recipients go on to Higher Education in fields like Law, Medicine, Government, Entertainment, etc.  We pride ourselves on being able to give a helping hand to their futures with these awards.  And it is only made possible by the generosity of donations from kind individuals and organizations.  Help us change their futures!

  • Applications for scholarships are accepted January through May with awards typically announced in the first part of July.
  • Students submit their final grades, a recommendation from a teacher or principal, an essay on what it would mean to them to receive a scholarship, and what they would like to do in college and beyond.
  • We primarily select students with the highest grade point average. In most years, the lowest accepted GPA is 3.5.
  • Scholarship recipients from the previous year are considered first and will receive a scholarship again as long as they maintain the required GPA.  Consideration for new applicants follow accordingly.

We typically award 30-35 scholarships annually, depending on available funding and donations. In Last year we were able to award 42!

However, all this is only possible with the help of donors!
Please help us maintain our funding at levels sufficient to help these deserving students. Their futures could depend on it.
