Pedro Ical retired in 2023 as an Inspector of Police and now has started a Corn microbusiness in San Roman village in Stann Creek District.  The goal is to use the harvest to feed his family and generate income.  The target date for the first harvest is August of 2024 with an initial estimated output of 10 bags of corn per acre and revenue of BZ$75 per bag (100 pounds each).

The first task is to clear 4-6 acres of land he owns which is located approximately 20-24 miles east of San Roman village.  A task he is currently doing manually using an axe and machete to chop down about 30 trees per acre.

To achieve the first harvest goal, Believe in Belize provided Pedro a grant of US$1,000 to purchase a power saw and related gear (eye & ear protection, etc.).  Afterwards it will be available for other villagers with similar microbusiness ambitions.
